Otakunami is an annual teen-oriented event occurs at Universal theme parks (Universal Studios Japan, Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studios Mexico (@)) every summer nights from June 20 - August 31. It is a joint venture of Universal Parks & Resorts and AnimExpo (a anime-themed convention) which is themed to Japanese anime, manga, light novels and other Japanese pop culture, and is aimed at mostly die-hard otaku community, age 12 to up. The event consists annual live show attractions based on popular licensed anime/manga characters and franchises and as well as featuring Q&A sessions, panels, character meet-n-greets, photo-ops, guest appearances (such as the anime voice actors, English-dub actors and people from the anime/manga companies and anime/manga licensing companies), exhibits of artworks from various anime studios and manga publishing companies, etc. The "Otakunami" is a portmanteau of the English words "otaku" and "tsunami".
